John of God's Spiritist Center, Casa de Dom Inácio, located approximately 130 km’s south of Brasília on Brazil's central plateau, is the spiritual healing center of medium John of God (João de Deus), the name Brazilians have given the medium João Texiera de Faria.

The Casa is a spiritual healing center where John of God has been doing this work for the last 25 years and is located in a small community of about 12,000 inhabitants just off the highway between Brasília and Anápolis.

There is a Bookstore where blessed holy water, crystals, books, rosaries, jewelry made from crystals, the native Brazilian stones, prayer triangles, photo vouchers for post-operation photos, crystal healing bath vouchers and t-shirts can be purchased. Line tickets can be picked up here and copies of videos bought or ordered.

There is a small snack bar where you can get fruit drinks, coffee, sugarcane juice, fresh coconut milk and home-baked treats.

There is a dining area just off the back garden before getting to the restrooms where the Sacred Spiritual Soup is served to those who attend the morning sessions each Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. The soup is blessed by the Entities and all are encouraged to partake of its healing qualities.

The crystal healing bath chambers are in a separate building across the garden from the soup kitchen and dining area.

The Casa Office (Secretaria) is in the long building adjacent to the Sacred Spiritual Soup dining room. This is where any administrative problems are handled. There is a window to the outside from this office with a basket where one may deposit written requests and photos of those needing prayer. These photos and requests are collected twice a day and given to the Entities. The Entities review the photos and requests and include them in the healing work The Casa keep these photos and requests for one year where they receive prayer and energy.

After surgery each person is required to leave a piece of paper in this basket with his/her full name, birth date, age, date of surgery and name of pousada (if staying until revision) or home address (if traveling before revision).

All notes or photos should include the person’s name, address, birth date, age, date of the surgery (if applicable), and the pousada where the person is staying while in Abadiânia (if applicable).

The back side of the Main Assembly Hall (out by the taxis) houses the sound studio where CDs and DVD's are recorded and copied. It used to be the pharmacy.

The pharmacy where prescribed herbs are purchased has been moved to behind the bookstore. The herbs and blessed holy water enhance the healing process and are essential elements of treatment.

The Main Assembly Hall is where visitors gather each day at 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. Here the "sons and daughters" of the Casa provide information about Casa procedures, pray and give short spiritual talks. Sometimes people give testimony about their healings. It is from the Main Assembly Hall that people are called into surgery or line up to go before the Entity.

There are two doors on each side of the Main Assembly Hall stage. The one on the left is used by the staff and for exiting the current rooms. The other (on the right) is used to enter into the current rooms on the way to go before the Entity.

When you enter the door on the right of the stage, the first room is the Medium’s Room or the First Current Room. This is where the "heavy" energies of the ill and confused coming to see the Entities (through John of God) are "burned" and harmonized by the Energy of Light being produced by those meditating. Without proper "cleansing" and harmonizing in the First Current Room, the work of the Entities can be hindered. The Casa is opened to everyone. "Doing Current" in this room is an act of incredibly courage and dedication. Attention to cleansing and harmonizing is imperative. However, the benefits are tremendous as it is in this current that medium's are trained and opened by one's spirit guides and the Entities of the Casa.

Those who arrive early to the sessions and want to contribute their energy to the task of cleansing and harmonizing are welcome. However, the door is closed earlier and earlier as there is limited capacity.

The Second Current Room is a continuation of First Current Room and is also referred to as the Entity’s Room. This is where John of God in Entity receives and helps those who have come to consult the Entities. The Mediums and other meditators who sit here have been invited by one of the Entities and are there either to generate energy for the Entities to use for healing or are there to be healed themselves in silence among the others. Often the Entity invites people to sit in his room as they have pass before him as part of their treatment; where they both "burn" and receive treatment. Many people have reported being operated on while sitting in this room. While normally one Entity is working through John of God's body, there are hundreds of other Entities in the room (and all over the Casa complex, for that matter) working and helping.

John of God must surrender his body to the incorporating Entity before the sessions begin. He may do this in seclusion, in the Second Current Room or out on the Main Assembly Hall stage. After talking for awhile and thanking those who have come that day, he has been known to incorporate and even operate right on stage. This happens less and less as the pressure of publicity has spurred the curiosity of lawmakers, politicians and religious antagonists endangering the continuation of the Casa activities. It is most usual that John of God incorporates in seclusion before operating and then sits in the Second Current Room to receive those who wish to see him.

From the Second Current Room, one enters the Surgery Room or the Third Current Room. The people who have invisible surgeries have them in this room. Some may still be there recovering quietly when you enter. Everyone who passes before the Entity must sit in this room and receive a prayer (called a "Passe" in Portuguese, which means spiritual energizing and cleansing). Afterwards, all should wait to have Blessed Spiritual Soup before leaving the premises in the mornings.

There is a Recovery Room accessed through the First Current Room or by-way-of a third door in the Main Assembly Hall. Here people are taken to rest and recover after more intrusive surgery or if they feel faint or manifest health-related problems in the currents rooms or in line.

Tickets

You may need a ticket to pass before the Entity. There are three kinds of tickets:

First Time Visitors (1o vez)
Second Time Visitors (2o vez)
Surgery Review (Revisão)

You get them at the Bookstore.

If you don't speak Portuguese and your guide is not allowed to translate for the Entity (which is usually the case), you will need to talk to an Official Casa Translator in a blue coat at a window adjacent to the Main Assembly Hall before sessions begin. There's usually a line to talk to them so you should arrive early. Give them your questions in writing (three at most) and explain to them what you want to know in your own words.

These translators will meet you when you are in front of John of God in Entity and will tell you immediately what he said and what you are to do. Try to separate yourself from others who do not speak Portuguese so the translators will not be rushed and will be able to tell you everything before having to help someone else. What does that mean? Don't go through the line with your non-Portuguese-speaking friends! It just makes things impossible for the translators and may cause you and others unnecessary anxiety.

About the Lines

After John of God has incorporated at each session, people who have been told to come back for surgery are called to line up for surgery. Everyone else should remain seated in silence.

First Time Visitors (1o vez), Second Time Visitors (2o vez) and Surgery Review (revision) people (Revisão) will be called to line up separately and the order may vary. If you don't speak Portuguese, you must listen carefully as the English repetition of each call may sometimes be made with a strong accent. If you are traveling with your own Casa Guide or Medium, then this will not be a problem as they are trained to listen for the calls.

If you miss your call, this is not a problem. If you are asked to come back to the next session because of a missed call, surrender. Breathe deep, allow your disappointment and fears to flow through you and evolve into a knowing that everything happens at the perfect time. This is lesson one of healing. If you can't get this one, then the Entities will work on you until you do.

If your picture was previously presented to the Entity by a friend or guide before you decided to make the Journey, you need a Second Time Visitor (2o vez) ticket.

Sometimes the Entity will tell you to come back through the line during another session. No ticket is needed. In the morning the line is called the Eight O’clock Line and in the afternoon it is called the Two O’clock Line. They will show you where to line up.

Sitting in Current

Sitting in current is both an act of giving and receiving spiritual energy. The term current refers to the spiritual energy generated by those meditating in the room and is used by the Entities for the healing process. The word also means "chain" in Portuguese. While those who are meditating are essentially positioning themselves in a giving mode, the Entities work on them or through them (if they are there on behalf of someone else).

To sit in the First Current Room you should arrive early, take a seat, close your eyes and keep your arms, legs and fingers uncrossed. Opening your eyes, crossing arms, legs and fingers and tying up hair all disrupt the flow of energy. If you have trouble emptying your mind, do visualizations. Visualize yourself in a completely healthy state and let pain, suffering and thoughts of disease gently melt away. Lovingly lead your thoughts always back to love, light, gratitude, surrender, Spirit, harmony, etc. Bringing these concepts into our consciousness stimulate higher frequencies which contribute to a more powerful current.

As mentioned above, the word "corrente" in Portuguese which is the translation for "current" used at the Casa means "chain" as well as current. In this translation there is a connotation of joining and linking together to create something strong. Current is a group effort and only as strong as its weakest link. That is why it is so important to go into current with high ideals and a loving heart.

One must have permission from the Entity to sit in the Second Current Room. If you are told to sit in his current it means only for that day (two sessions). When your interpreter tells you to sit in the Second Current Room, it is because the Entity requested that. The Entities will sometimes move people into different current rooms to balance the energy.

You can leave current only to go to the restroom (just raise your hand for assistance). You must return without stopping to eat or to talk because: 1) you are open and easily influenced by any outside energy and , 2) there is a important cleansing time, which takes place at the end of each session and blessed holy water provided to enhance this cleansing. It is very important to receive this cleansing and drink this water before going out into the world from current.

If you experience pain or get sick during current, it is because the Entities are working in you. Raise yo hand if you are too uncomfortable and talk to the person orchestrating the current from the r=front of the room. It is infinitely better to go to the infirmary and finish current rather than insist on leaving. It is infinitely better for you and everyone.

Sit in current as much as possible!

Current is a Medium's Classroom
from SpiritualSoup.com

"While sitting in current much learning and subtle ‘work’ is occurring. Mediums are trained here. How? An example.. you are in the first current room meditating on helping yourself and the others around you, seeing light, centered and adding to the ‘current’. Then the ‘first-time’ line marches past. These people are fresh from the world, they may be ill; they are curious and (many times) scared. They are like raw stones before cleaning and polishing. You are all charged up and then, whoosh; fatigue, side-thoughts and sore body; you have to start all over from scratch. What happened? You are learning about ‘current’.

Then, the ‘second-time’ line marches past and you find it is easier to stay centered, expressing love, healing and protection to yourself and others. Why is this? The second-time line is more harmonized, the energy levels of individuals are less abrupt, more constant. Your base-line is not lowered and you can (in cooperation with the others present) step up the frequency of polishing, light, sound, healing and love.

Healing is going on in both first and second current rooms but much learning and experience with energy recognition is possible in first current room and it is valuable to spend time there.

Second current room continues the polishing of individuals and the harmonics of attention are more accessible for healing. Both rooms may be thought of as equal in energy and complimenting each other in function. Here much ‘work’ is performed in helping the medium and the entities.

All illness has roots at the spirit level and works its way outward manifesting in a physical symptoms like cancer. Without changing the root cause at the spirit level, cure will be temporary. Casa healing starts at the spirit level and often takes time to reflect on the physical level. The physical problem may be inconvenient and even life threatening but it is not ‘the’ problem. I don’t know about you but it takes me some effort before I'll change myself on the inside.

Going through Surgery

Sometimes the Entity may require you to have surgery and will ask you to come back at a later session. During this session, you should wait in the Main Assembly Hall. Surgery people will be called first and be taken to the Surgery Room. They are led through the First Current Room, the Second Current Room and into the Surgery Room. Most are directed to sit on the benches with their eyes closed and legs, arms and fingers uncrossed. When you would like to have one specific area treated, put your right hand on that area. If you cannot for some reason or you have multiple issues, place your right hand over your heart. Visualize yourself completely healed with your eyes closed and no crossed limbs.

It is normal to have physical sensations during an operation but not required. The Entities use a kind of spiritual anesthesia during surgery but, as it wears off, you may feel discomfort or pain just like in normal surgery. The entities can perform up to nine surgeries at a time on any one person.

The Entity working in John of God's body that session will usually enter the room and operate with the other Entities. When everything is finished, he will announce that the operations have been completed and leave. After prayer the people (who are able) go to a post-operative orientation meeting usually at the soup tables or at the tables behind the Surgery Room. A Casa Translator (blue coat) will then explain the post-operative procedures and all questions will be addressed.

After orientation, you need to write your name, address, the name of the pousada where you are staying (if you are staying another week*), your birthday and the date of your operation on a piece of paper and leave it in the basket. If, for some reason, your are unable to do these things at this time, make sure you do them before the end of your stay.

Multiple surgeries during your visit do not require multiple photos.

*If you are leaving, put put your home address on this paper.

Post-Operative Procedures

First day: Stay in bed! No traveling. Start taking surgery herbs (if applicable) or continue taking other herb prescriptions (if appropriate). Cleanse the area where you requested to have surgery or felt any sensation with cotton and blessed holy water regularly. The healing process takes time.

Ideally, one should stay in bed for the first twenty-four hours after surgery. If that is impossible, for some reason, do not go to the Casa during that period. Ask someone to bring you soup, if possible, but stay away from the Casa. Avoid contact with others and idle conversation. Don't journal or read. Treat yourself as if you have just had medical surgery in a medical hospital. Don't lift heavy objects or over exert yourself. Try to sleep as much as possible and (if that if impossible) stay in your room and try to meditate.

For 40 days: No sex nor sexual stimulation of any kind. Add on 8 days for each additional operation.

For eight days: The Sacred Waterfall is off limits for 7 days after surgery. It is always good to ask to go to the Sacred Waterfall when you first pass in front of the Entity if going there is of importance to you. Often people do not get to go because there is so little time to fulfill all the post-operative requirements and restrictions during a two-week period. Avoid sun. Remember the surgery, the herbs, the holy water work together to enhance your healing.

You may ask the Entity before you go home how long your healing will take and if you should come back.

Surgery Review on Eighth-Day

One must prepare for the eighth-day review the night before. Place a glass of water bedside before going to sleep, dress in white and, with an grateful heart, pray to the Entities and ask them to come and remove stitches. In the morning, drink the water and thank the Entities, again. Keep your eyes closed if awakened during the night by pain or noise, as it is the entities working on you and open eyes will reduce the amount of available energy they are using. After breakfast, during the morning session, go before the Entity for review. You may be told you are healed, asked to take more herbs, asked to sit in the Entity's Current or any combination of the above.

Surrogate Surgery

When someone is so ill they cannot travel or have been requested not to come to Abadiânia they may give permission to a surrogate who must in return receive permission from the Entity. The Surrogate actually goes through the invisible surgery process for the distant patient. At the time of surgery, the surrogate must focus intensely on the individual who is to have surgery. It is the actual patient, however, who follows all post-operative procedures including pre-review procedures on the night before the eighth day Surgery Review.

Surrogate patients should send a picture to be left at the Casa Office (Secretaria).

Herbs

Prescribed herbs come in capsule form. They are in a bottle of 35 capsules and are sold for R$10 per bottle. The Entity usually requests five bottles for each visitor requiring herbs. They can be prescribed prior to surgery, again at time of surgery and again at revision.

If you are given herbs before surgery and again at the time of surgery, discontinue use of the first batch until after you have finished the surgery batch.

In the case of multiple surgeries, complete the surgery herbs in the order of the surgeries; finish each surgery batch before starting the next surgery batch. Then, finish any other interrupted herbs and any you received at revision or before leaving.

Take one capsule three times a day unless otherwise prescribe by the Entity.

While taking the herbs you should not:

1. Drink alcoholic beverages. Alcohol complicates the healing benefits of the herbs.

2. Eat spicy hot foodstuffs like: peppers, chilies, black or white pepper, cayenne, hot sauces, etc. Chilies often irritate our digestive tract and inhibit absorption of the herbs and valuable nutrients.

3. Eat pork, ham, bacon, lard or any other pork by-products.

While taking the herbs you should:

1. Avoid meat, sugar, junk food, black coffee, soft drinks, and smoking, especially during the first week after surgery.

2. Drink lots of water.

Children seven years of age and under, people over 54, women who are breast feeding and people already on diets for medical reasons don't need to follow these dietary indications.

Blessed Holy Water

The Blessed Water has been energized by the Entities and given therapeutic qualities. The blessed water contributes to your personal healing process, helps you avoid possible complications from drinking the local water (a normal consideration for foreigners when traveling) and helps you avoid dehydration in this very arid region. It is purchased in the bookstore or at your pousada (if applicable) and can be diluted in order to stretch it out if you should take some home with you when you leave. Dilution recommendations vary and I (who have been going to homeopathic doctors for the last twenty years) think you use the dilution which makes you feel confident that you are getting the dosage you need for complete healing. Use your intuition!

Sacred Spiritual Soup

Sacred Spiritual Soup blessed by the Entities follows all morning sessions, is fr'ee and is recommended, as it contributes significantly to the healing process on more levels than one. On Tuesday mornings at 7:00 AM local time, you can join the fun of chopping veggies for the soup. This is a great time to meet and have valuable interaction with Casa staff members and people from other groups or traveling alone. This is an opportunity to participate intimately in Casa activities, help give back some of what you have received and know your brothers and sisters on this spiritual journey better.

Crystal Healing Baths

Crystal Healing Baths arechromo therapy treatments concentrated and optimized because each of the seven different colored lights passes through the purest of white quartz crystals before hitting your body. Each color corresponds to one of the seven chakras (energy centers) of the human body. The enhanced colored light aligns and balances your energy fields and deep relaxing healing calm takes over. Each session is about 20 minutes. Sign up for at least two sessions back-to-back if you have trouble relaxing.

Crystal Healing Baths may be prescribed by the Entity in preparation for surgery or as part of therapy. But, you may have sessions on your own. The recommended total number of sessions should be an odd number. Crystal Healing Baths are R$20 per session at the Bookstore.

Sons and Daughters of the Casa

The organizational aspects of running the Casa are very involved and require the help of the many dedicated people, some from Abadiânia who work everyday and others from other parts of Brazil and the world. Many of these people were led to the Casa de Dom Inácio and John of God because of their own health issues.

The sons and daughters of the Casa perform many duties. There are current mediums, administrators, herb pharmacy personnel, groundskeepers, bookstore clerks, snack bar cooks and servers, guides, translators, crystal healing bath assistants, cooks and servers of the blessed sacred soup, drivers, security, etc. The sons and daughters at the Casa are there to assist you can be found before, during and after each session around the Main Assembly Hall area. Some wear jackets with ‘Casa de Dom Inácio’ printed on the back. Those that speak Portuguese, as well as another language, wear blue jackets and those that speak only Portuguese wear white jackets. Other Sons and daughters of the Casa wear name tags and still others are just milling around without identification. All guides are sons or daughters of the Casa and are willing to help you even if you are not in their groups.

The Casa is a community of extremely dedicated volunteers and employees. They are all dedicated to the medium John of God as a man and as a medium. The motivation of their everyday presence at the house is love. The relatively recent onslaught of foreign visitors has seriously strained the Casa structure in the past few years. Many new tasks have been created and new people aggregated to the Casa in order to fulfill the added demands of dealing with many languages and cultural differences.

When approached with kindness, the Casa staff members blossom with reciprocal kindness. If they seem tense or in a hurry, it is because they are conscious of the preciousness of what is happening around them and concerned about their abilities to serve those in need better.

Visitors, unless totally involved in giving, are a matter of concern. Empathy is not foreign to the members at the Casa. Much of what they know is from intuition and observation as Portuguese will probably be the only language most of them will ever speak or understand.

There are others at the Casa who speak English fluently but wait to be addressed. The general belief is that the Entities will take care of everything, so they wait out of respect for the process.

The Casa is filled with incredible people who have humbled their desires to the labor of love. This is a sacred place not because of energy vortexes that cross the earth's surface, nor religious proclamation, but because, for whatever reason, a community of love has evolved around the work of John of God with a conscious mission to stimulate, accumulate and preserve Spirit energy for the good of all.

Yes, this includes you.

<back>

Silence

Silence is a keyword at the Casa. It is printed on all the walls of the center reminding people to honor the presence of these Entities and help maintain and strengthen the powerful energy which they bring to this healing place. Talking disperses energy, makes the mind unquiet and leads ones attention away from within.

Recommended Stay for Foreigners

Foreigners are recommended to stay in Abadiânia for two weeks in order to take advantage of two sets of the three-day periods with John of God and to remain in the vicinity of the Casa for the 4 days in between.

In our imaginations we believe that love is apart from us.
Actually there is nothing but love, once we are ready to accept it.
When you truly find love, you find yourself.
